Mori Mandis began her hospitality career with the Walt Disney Company, working for Walt Disney Records in Burbank, CA.  She was hired as a Public Relations assistant.  The job entailed planning PR events such as Grammy parties and various events for the music industry.  During this time, she had the opportunity to attend Disney University where she learned the ultimate in Guest Services.

Mori would have remained at Disney but moved with her husband to San Luis Obispo a few years later.  Because of her great training at “Disney U”, the Cal Poly Athletic Department created a custom position for her to promote, arrange, and host events for the department.

Relocating once again, Mori moved to Walnut Creek in Northern California. While considering job options a friend challenged Mori suggesting she would be unable to get another studio job.  Well, three weeks later she was working for Star Wars creator George Lucas in San Rafael. Mori worked in a relatively hidden location away from Skywalker Ranch at the same site as Industrial Light & Magic (Star Wars).  Mori considers this position a feather in her cap but eventually the commute and 12-hour work days left her feeling like she had no time for herself and inspired her resignation.

Her final move brought Mori back home to San Jose soon after.  She was asked to join the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau for the Smithsonian touring exhibition.   Once there she put on several different “hats” including designer for the Convention Center Gift Shop, HOST Manager – operating information booths at San Jose International Airport and eventually she became the first online San Jose Concierge.

Mori continues to support her community and the City of San Jose actively and is the current President of the Silicon Valley Concierge Association. When not volunteering, or serving on various committees, she can be found in her favorite spot: her backyard swing where she listening to SF Giants games on the radio or enjoys reading a good mystery all while having a glass of wine. Her philosophy is: Always question everything and draw outside of the lines!
